After a lot of soul searching I finally got back out to a couple of my Fav spots near Blackheath post fires.I stopped along Hat Hill road and walked into the burnt forest a fair way and just stood there. It was very overwhelming, the energy that must have caused this, nothing left on the forest floor, stately gum trees scorched, no life where had it all gone. Then I thought of the RFS people who were here trying to stop it from consuming the houses along this road, Brave as can be it must have been terrifying.

After I gathered my thoughts I went back to the car and grabbed my camera. The family of Black Cockatoos which frequent the area were around and talking to each other,I wandered through and came upon this web which had appeared overnight out of the destruction, light rain added to its beauty and gave some encouragement to believe it will recover even though not as it was.

Further along an ant colony was in the regimental line gathering food on the forest floor also. I then crossed over to the northern side of the road as the black cockatoos had gathered there, normally they are very flighty but as the normal food source was burnt and they looked stressed so I was able to get a bit closer with my telephoto sense without disturbing them. On the menu was burnt bottlebrush seed pods, twigs anything they could grab.
